Shoemaker Cooperative

Shoemaker was founded in the fall of 1938. As a cooperative house, the members of Shoemaker run all aspects of the house, from overseeing house finances to completing weekly cooking and cleaning duties. Shoemaker stresses the importance of developing excellence in all facets of life through various house activities and incentives.
Shoemaker is an academically diverse house, with members majoring in everything from philosophy to neurobiology. Though living in a house is time-consuming, we prioritize academics through mandatory study hours and in-house scholarship awards. Philanthropy and community engagement are also stressed at Shoemaker, as members participate in both a house-sponsored philanthropy event and personal philanthropies of their choice. Shoemakers also participate in intramural sports and social functions, including tailgating with our football buddies, Barndance, Pixie Week, Spring Formal, and Grand Prix.
